When I installed this between my cable box and the cable from the wall, it did nothing to improve the picture, so I tried it at the other end of the cable-where it comes out of the wall. Got no picture at all that way. So, useless to me.

The seller packaged this item very carefully and shipped it post haste. The product is excellent and did what it is advertised to do. The price was excellent and I recommend them highly. I have a long run of coax from the cable provider to the last TV set on the line and this device fixed the problem of all TVs in the house not receiving the identical channels. It is easy to overlook the lose of signal in the wires. This device compensates very well. I highly recommend it.

When Comcast decided to do their digital transition, one of the DTAs would not activate properly. The only advice Comcast offered was to "remove any splitters." That was not really an option without losing cable service to most of the house.
After replacing the cable run to the problem DTA with new cable, I was now able to activate the DTA but the signal was still degraded to the point that several of the channels were unusable. Internet search indicated that the problem I experienced is not uncommon and suggested an amplifier.
Of course, Comcast will send a tech out to fix, but it is at homeowner's expense. I was not willing to pay them to fix a problem they created.
Installed amplifier--quick and easy. There was a comprehensive installation sheet, but it was not really necessary since amp inputs and outputs are well marked. Before installation, signal strength at the DTA input was about 15db with a S/N ratio of about 25. After installing the amplifier, the signal level is 1.5db and the S/N ratio is 37. Works great and I didn't have to pay Comcast to fix the problem. My only complaint is that I had to do it in the first place. My cable service wasn't broken before they implemented their transition. After, I have lost service to two TVs (unless I want to pay them extra for additional DTAs), I have a rat's nest of wires behind each of the TVs where I installed DTAs, and there is no particular improvement in service (unless you count several additional channels which are completely worthless.)
But this isn't about Comcast--it's about the amplifier.
Five+ stars. Solidly built, as you'd expect from Motorola.
If you're having problems after Comcast "improved" your service, I highly recommend you take a look at this solution.
